ClientEarth is a nonprofit environmental law organization. In China, ClientEarth works to support drafting and implementing better environmental laws, conduct training and exchanges with judges and prosecutors, and help to strengthen the role of environmental NGOs. In 2016, ClientEarth began working with the Supreme People’s Procuratorate to develop a better system of environmental public interest litigations. In 2018 institutional reforms were made in this area to establish specialized departments to handle these cases. In June 2018, ClientEarth implemented an environmental roundtable co-organized by the EU - China Environment Programme. The roundtable was attended by officials from the EU, Canada and China under the umbrella of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development. In July 2018, ClientEarth and the Supreme People's Court organized training seminars for environmental prosecutors from all over China.
