About us

In 2012 friends and animal lovers came together to form what at the time was the only government registered, non-profit animal rescue organization in Punta Cana, RescataMe.org. In 2022 RescataMe joined forces with another rescue in the Dominican Republic, Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic, providing the ability for the group to add the advantages of being part of a U.S. 501 c 3 charity and a Registered Charity in Canada. We are excited to now provide you with the opportunity to have your donations be tax deductible in these countries.

The founders all worked and lived in Punta Cana area and wanted to do something about the rampant animal overpopulation they saw, work to prevent animal abuse and other issues they saw happening among the dogs and cats of the area.
Throughout the local communities of the Punta Cana area there were immense problems with stray animals and this group decided the best way to fight the problem was to concentrate on dramatically reducing the number of unwanted street animals through sterilization campaigns and "mini clinics".​
