About us
Founded in April 1993, China Environmental Protection Foundation (CEPF) is the first non profit organization dedicated to environmental protection in China, and an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC. In recognition of the outstanding contributions of Professor Qu Geping, who was the first director of the National Environmental Protection Agency and former chairman of the National People's Congress Environment and Resources Protection Committee, to participate in and lead China’s environmental protection undertaking, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 1992.
