About us

The Citizens Environment Research Institute is a specialized research institute of the Environmental Movement Association, which opened in 1993.
The Civic Environment Research Institute is one of the longest-running non-governmental organizations (NGOs) research institutes in Korea. 
The value that our institute places importance on is 'with the eyes of citizens and through the power of science'. The purpose is to look at environmental issues from the perspective of citizens, but to find out the truth by applying scientific methods.
Our research institute has been working hard to protect the value of nature and the lives of citizens in various fields such as Taean oil spill, asbestos pollution, Antarctic protection, wetland conservation, ecosystem monitoring, whale protection, and protection of the four major rivers. In addition, for urgent environmental issues, the Citizen Environment Forum has been held to diagnose the environmental realities at home and abroad and to seek solutions and alternatives.
