About us

The Wetlands Centre’s Vision: Wetlands are increasingly appreciated and recognised by the local and state-wide community for their scientific, aesthetic, historic, social, and spiritual values. The Wetlands Centre’s Mission: to connect the community with Wetlands through projects, programs and events which increase the knowledge, awareness, understanding, and commitment to their conservation and wise use within the wider environment. The Centre fulfils its mission through our four key objectives: governance, partnership, leadership, and sustainability. All our projects, partnerships and events are measured against their effectiveness and efficiency in achieving the corporate objectives. The measurable outcomes are reported to the board on a monthly basis. The Wetlands Centre takes a holistic approach to environmental education incorporating respect and proactive engagement of Aboriginal people, their culture and values. The Centre Nyungar moort Beeliar boodja-k kaadadjiny. Koora, yeyi, benang baalap nidja boodja-k kaaradjiny. Ngalak kaadatj dayin boodja, kep wer malayin. We acknowledge a continuing connection to land, waters and culture and pay our respects to the Elders, past, present, and emerging.
