About us
The Darwin Initiative Project, The Gambia, is a programme sponsored by the UK Government (DEFRA) with funds being secured by Warwick University who also work with the Makasutu Wildlife Trust - who are the country based implementers and operate the Field Station For Biodiversity & Research. The Darwin Initiative aims to conserve the Earth's biodiversity by helping those nations that have wide biodiversity, but lack the financial capacity to adequately protect their living natural resources. It also assists countries to achieve their commitments as agreed in various treaties such as Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), CMS and CITES.
