About us
The Environmental Pillar is an organisation that works to represent the views of the Irish environmental sector. Comprised of 26 environmental NGOs, the Environmental Pillar works to promote environmental sustainability and protection of the natural environment. Our members support the principles of sustainable development as defined in the Rio Declaration in 1992. These principles require the balancing of the three Pillars of Sustainable Development, Social, Environmental, and Economic. Our staff are dedicated to promoting policies that advance sustainability and to the long-term health of the environment. We also aim to provide a channel for the government and other social partners to engage with the environmental sector on policy matters.
