About us

Green Belt Movement International USA is a registered 501(c)(3), tax exempt, not for profit organization, and also a member of the Combined Federal Campaign "Aid for Africa", CFC #35418.
The Green Belt Movement (GBM) is an environmental organization that empowers communities, particularly women, to conserve the environment and improve livelihoods. GBM was founded by Professor Wangari Maathai in 1977.
A values-driven society of people who consciously work for continued improvement of their livelihoods and a greener, cleaner world.
We strive for better environmental management, community empowerment, and livelihood improvement using tree-planting as an entry point.
