International Solar Energy Society Italy
Active since 1978, ISES Italy is the Italian section of the International Solar Energy Society.
In our country it represents the main non-profit technical-scientific association legally recognized for the promotion of the use of Renewable Energy Sources (solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, wind energy, biomass energy, bioclimatic, geothermal energy, water energy, energy from the sea) .
Energy production, in modern society, is a key factor, since economic and social development depends on it, but it is almost completely based on fossil fuels with serious consequences for health and the environment. This is why it is important to promote a wider use of renewable sources, virtually inexhaustible and with a reduced environmental impact, and a rational use of energy.
However, there are many obstacles to the spread of Renewables: information, political-legislative, institutional, economic-financial and infrastructural barriers. To help overcome these barriers, ISES Italy focuses on various key actions: information, technical assistance, professional training, lobbying.
The collective members of ISES Italy include institutions and companies institutionally involved in the Italian energy policy, industries in the sector, research centers, universities, trade organizations and local authorities interested in the topics dealt with by ISES Italy.
On an individual level there are also associated professionals, operators in the sector, professors and university students, as well as all those who have an interest in Renewable Sources and in the Rational Use of Energy.
