About us

Travalyst is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to catalyze sustainability within the tourism industry.
Founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, in 2019, our growing global Coalition includes some of the biggest brands in travel: Amadeus, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, Skyscanner, Travelport, Trip.com Group, Tripadvisor and Visa.
Travalyst provides supportive, independent and neutral governance, empowering our Coalition of some of the biggest – and occasionally competing – travel companies and service providers to share data and accelerate change. The goal is to bring credible, consistent sustainability information to the mainstream, helping both travelers and travel companies make better, greener choices.
As the organization overseeing the delivery of the Travalyst coalition’s vision and mission, we recognize the role we must play in tackling the climate crisis. Therefore, we are committing to measuring and reducing our carbon footprint year on year to achieve net zero by 2030.
The target limit set out in the Paris Agreement – a 1.5°C increase in global temperatures – will still inevitably lead to a worldwide shift in our weather patterns and biodiversity. This, in turn, will negatively impact us all in the way we live. The frightening thing is that we are on course for a 3°C increase; this is a global crisis that requires all of us to act now.
Each industry has a role to play in meaningfully responding to climate change. This includes the travel and tourism industry, which accounts for at least 8% of the world’s total carbon footprint. It is our responsibility to work together – with stakeholders from across the industry – to influence systems to change and meaningfully reduce those emissions.
Reducing industry emissions is one of our core goals. First and foremost, however, we’re looking at ourselves – the Travalyst organization and employees – to ensure that we understand our impact, and devise a plan for how we can reduce that impact to net zero. We certainly aren’t perfect, but we are learning how to get there.
