About us

The Sanctuary is a women-owned, non-profit company. A small number of staff, with the help of occasional volunteers, provide the day-to-day running of it, which includes fetching carcasses, butchering, feeding, maintenance, finances and guided tours.

The Sanctuary is mainly self-funded, with the help of donations, sponsorships and tours.
Because we do not wish to contribute to captive wolves, we do not breed. Any unsterilised animals brought to the sanctuary will be given tubal litigation or a vasectomy. This will allow the animals to experience normal breeding behaviour whilst not producing any litters.

We try to provide our wolves with an environment as close to their natural habitat as is possible in the South African Climate.
The Sanctuary is situated on 22.7 hectares of land housing the enclosures, with adjoining veterinary isolation camps.

The vegetation is lush and we remove as little of the natural ferns and trees as possible, thereby still providing our animals with privacy, but at the same time affording interested parties the opportunity of quietly studying them.
