About us
The Portuguese Renewable Energy Association (APREN) is a non-profit association, established in October 1988, with the mission of coordinating and representing the common interests of its Members in the promotion of Renewable Energy in the electricity sector. APREN Associates are natural or legal persons authorized to produce electricity from renewable sources (promoters), as well as any individual or legal persons interested in the development of renewable energy in Portugal (non-promoters). APREN represents more than 90% of the total installed capacity of renewable electricity production sources in Portugal. APREN works together with official bodies and other similar entities, at national and international level, constituting an instrument of participation in the elaboration of energy policies for Portugal, promoting the use and valorization of national renewable resources for the production of electricity. In institutional terms, APREN favors coordination and permanent contact with the Government, relevant Ministries and respective bodies, as well as a fruitful dialogue with the main national stakeholders linked to the production of renewable electricity and representatives of civil society. There is also a strong involvement at the community level, which is essentially manifested in the participation in European projects and in the partnership with European Associations of the various technologies that APREN represents, which make it possible to monitor European energy policy and the evolution of the sector in the other States. -Members of the European Union. We invite you to get to know our Association and to join us in the defense of renewable energies in Portugal.
