About us

The Laboratory of Ecology and Evolution (LEEV) operates in the areas of Natural History, Morphology, Taxonomy, Systematics, Biogeography, Cytogenetics, Molecular Biology, Biodiversity, Conservation, Ecology and Evolution of vertebrates and invertebrates (with emphasis on snakes, small mammals and spiders ). It develops multidisciplinary research integrating researchers from the Butantan Institute and other institutions in Brazil and abroad. The laboratory's researchers are members of the faculty of graduate courses at USP, UNICAMP and UNESP, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. The laboratory is responsible for the "Serpentarium" at the Butantan Institute and also carries out educational activities.
