About us

Etsi Architects is a Greek architecture practice based in Kardamyli, on the Mani Peninsula in the Peloponnese, led by architect Eleni Tsigarida and specialising in sustainable architecture, restoration, and renovation of existing homes alongside new-build and off-grid design. The practice's stated design philosophy prioritises minimising the environmental impact of construction while maximising the health and wellbeing of a building's occupants, applied consistently across its restoration, renovation, remodelling, extension, and refurbishment services for existing properties in the Mani region.

Etsi's sustainable-architecture approach rests on several specific commitments: '0km architecture' — prioritising locally sourced materials and labour to reduce a project's carbon footprint and support the local Mani economy; eco architecture using non-toxic, low-impact building materials alongside renewable energy sources such as solar panels and geothermal heating; off-grid home design incorporating renewable energy systems and water-conservation measures for full self-sufficiency; and inclusive/universal design ensuring renovated and new spaces remain accessible regardless of physical ability, age, or background. The firm applies these principles specifically to the restoration of existing stone houses and traditional Maniot architecture common to the region, alongside new construction.

The practice has been featured in regional press and academic lectures on restoration architecture, including a 2026 lecture by Eleni Tsigarida at the New York Institute of Technology on restoration architecture.
