About us
Global Architects is an architectural firm based in The Hague, Netherlands (registered with the BNA, the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects), with 15+ years of experience specialising specifically in the sustainable renovation and conversion of existing homes, active throughout the Netherlands. The firm's four-architect design team — ir. Arthur S. Nuss, ir. Jony Nederend, and ir. Kallia Theodoraki (all TU Delft graduates), and Ing. arch. Tomáš Beránek (Faculty of Architecture, Prague) — favours natural materials and a minimalist, robust design language, and manages the full renovation process for clients from initial sketch design through permitting to construction supervision. Global Architects' renovation portfolio spans sustainable extensions and high-end remodels of existing 1930s and other period Dutch houses, monumental/listed villa renovations completed with ecologically friendly building materials and modern insulation standards, apartment renovations in century-old buildings brought up to high insulation standards, and 'renovate instead of moving' conversions that add space and sustainability upgrades to an existing home rather than requiring relocation. One project, 'House in a House' — a sustainable renovation of a 1980s terraced house in Wassenaar — received an honorable mention for BNA Building of the Year 2016 and was published on Dezeen; another project brought an office building from Energy Label G up to A+++ through a full sustainable renovation. The firm has delivered renovation and sustainable-renovation projects across The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Noordwijk, Katwijk, Zandvoort, Bergen, Hoofddorp, Leiden, Nijmegen, and other Dutch municipalities over its history, and celebrated its 15th anniversary in company materials. Global Architects is based at Stadhouderslaan 24B, 2517 HX Den Haag (The Hague), Netherlands, and can be reached at info@globalarchitects.nl or +31 (0)70 711 35 99.
