In the Northern Hemisphere, solar panels are most effective when installed on south-facing roofs. However, solar panels also have the capacity to produce energy when the house faces west or east. This can result in up to 15-20% loss of production, but if you have a PV array facing both east and west, you will have more stable production during the day.
