About us

Raumfabrik, legally Raumfabrik Konzept- und Ideenschmiede GmbH, is a German architecture, planning, and craftsmanship ('Handwerk') company operating out of Münster, Düsseldorf, and the North Sea island of Norderney, offering renovation and modernization of existing houses and apartments delivered from a single source — concept, planning, and hands-on building work under one roof, supported by the company's own in-house workshop in Emsdetten and, per its own materials, over 100 years of combined craftsmanship experience across its team.

The company's sustainable-renovation approach centers on natural and reclaimed building materials. It highlights wood as a renewable, warmth-giving material used for flooring and ceiling cladding; clay ('Lehm') plaster, valued for regulating indoor humidity and slowly storing and releasing warmth for a healthier indoor climate, particularly favored by families in the Münster and Osnabrück area; and recycled construction materials, such as reclaimed bricks, reclaimed wood, recycled facade panels, and natural stone suited to Norderney's coastal conditions. Raumfabrik also promotes low-emission, solvent-free eco-paints and lacquers made from renewable raw materials such as plant oils, minerals, and chalk, which it markets as healthier for families (especially in children's rooms) and fully biodegradable at end of life, and it actively practices upcycling — refinishing existing doors, restoring old floorboards, and repainting furniture — to preserve a building's character while reducing resource consumption, including reusing reclaimed brick walls and driftwood/old timber in interior design.
