About us

Sustainable Mountain Architecture (SMA) is a non-profit distributing company established in 2013. We focus on sustainable design and improving building methods in the mountains. We believe in architecture that is rooted to its locality in terms of its climate, materials, skills and culture.

Founded by Prof. Anne Feenstra, Laureate Global Award for Sustainable Architecture (2012 Paris), we are a Nepal based team with national and international members. It is a part of a larger network with experts in Architecture, Design, Construction, Graphics, Management, Education and the Arts. 

SMA has professional and academic affiliations in New Delhi, Amsterdam and   Colombo. The team chooses to work on the regular basis with salvaged earthquake material and  up-cycles scrap/waste into building material.
