About us
Uponor's story began in 1918, when a Finnish self-made legend, Aukusti Asko-Avonius, set out to realize his American dream in a poor country and set up a carpentry shop in Lahti. In a hundred years, the small carpentry workshop has grown into a modern, international listed company and one of the world's leading manufacturers of building and municipal engineering solutions. Born in Asko and Upo, the history of Uponor also tells about the development of Finnish industry, trade and technology. It is also a great story about globalization - today Uponor is one of Finland's most international companies. The foundation of today's Uponor dates back to the European innovators of the past, and the company's roots can be traced back to the 1620s.
