About us

Økomureren is a Danish masonry and renovation company founded and run by Troels, who built his own house according to sustainable-building principles before founding the company on the same philosophy. Økomureren specialises in the renovation and conversion ('renovering & ombygning') of existing Danish homes using sustainable materials and methods, positioning sustainable renovation not just as a matter of material choice but as a way of responsibly extending a building's usable lifespan.

The company's approach to sustainable renovation centres on natural materials such as lime and clay in place of cement-based products, which it highlights as having a significantly lower CO2 footprint than conventional building materials while also regulating indoor humidity and helping to prevent mould growth — improving indoor air quality alongside environmental performance. Økomureren frames sustainable renovation around resource efficiency: prioritising the reuse of existing structures and materials wherever possible rather than defaulting to new construction, on the reasoning that renovating existing buildings is frequently more resource-efficient than building new. Typical project work includes bathroom renovation (flooring, tiling), full apartment and house renovations, and general masonry and construction ('entreprise') work.
