CSIR - Indian Institute of Toxicological Research under the Government of India.
CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow established in 1965 is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research . 
IITR Conducts research in niche areas of toxicology. This includes the effects of industrial and environmental chemicals on human health and ecosystems, and environmental monitoring of pollutants in air, water and soil. 
Mission and Vision
CSIR-IITR is a pioneer in toxicology research and strives to address problems of human health and the environment. The institute aims to fulfill its goals with the following objectives :
- To carry out safety evaluation of chemicals used in industry, agriculture and daily life.
- To determine the mode of action of toxic chemicals/pollutants.
- To suggest remedial/preventive measures for protection of health and environment from pollutants.
- To identify occupational health hazards due to exposure in chemical industries, mines, agricultural fields and environment.
- Simple/quick diagnostic tests for disorders caused by industrial and environmental chemicals.
- Collection, storage and dissemination of information on toxic chemicals.
- To develop human resources to deal with industrial and environmental problems.
- To provide a platform to the public and entrepreneurs to discuss questions and concerns regarding the safety/toxicity of chemicals, additives and products.
