About us

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) is the Guatemalan government body responsible for formulating and implementing policies related to environmental protection, conservation, sustainable management of natural resources, and upholding the right to a healthy and ecologically balanced environment. Its mission includes preventing pollution, mitigating environmental degradation, and preserving the country’s natural heritage.

Headquartered in Guatemala City, MARN operates under the leadership of Minister Ana Patricia Orantes Thomas, who has served in the role since April 11, 2024
