The Ministry of Environment, Lands and Agricultural Development (MELAD) of Kiribati, based in Bikenibeu, is the principal government authority responsible for the stewardship of the country’s environment, land management, and agricultural development. As a key agency in the Republic of Kiribati, MELAD plays a vital role in ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources while addressing the environmental and food security challenges facing the island nation.
