The market for whole-home backup batteries has expanded quickly enough that most comparisons of the best solar battery options focus purely on price and capacity, leaving out the one variable that actually separates the two dominant chemistries at end of life: what gets recovered, and what ends up landfilled. Capacity, measured in kWh, is how much energy a battery holds.
