Busan Gyeongnam Eco-City Research Center Life Madang is a citizen research institute that sympathizes with the pain of the earth and works to make our living ground an ecological space.

Main Activities:
A study on citizen monitoring activities and policy tasks for improvement of water quality in Busan

Research for efficient use of water resources, investigation and research for ecological restoration of the four major rivers, restoration of the brackish waters of the Nakdong Estuary, and activities to protect wetlands, etc.

Policy research to improve energy efficiency and spread renewable energy, draw up measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in architecture, home and commerce, transportation, public and industrial sectors, and move to a low-carbon civilization and lifestyle, etc.

Asbestos-damaged area investigation and resident support activities, heavy metal and radioactive contamination level investigation of marine products distributed in Busan, investigation on the discharge status of specific water hazardous substances in the Nakdong River water system, light pollution and fine dust investigation, soil pollution investigation and restoration activities, etc. Activities to protect citizens' right to health

Enhancing citizens’ ecological sensibility through natural ecology experience education such as forests and wetlands, environmental education for children, youth, and the general public to practice a lifestyle of circulation and symbiosis, practical education for overcoming climate change crisis and energy conversion, etc.

Contributing to institutional improvements, such as preparing legislation for the relief of asbestos victims through various environmental impact and damage investigation activities, and preparing standards for heavy metals in marine products (mollusks, crustaceans).

Policy research activities for Busan's response to climate change and energy transition are also active.
