About us
Clean Up Kenya was established in July 2015 to advocate for and promote sustainable public sanitation in Kenya. When the project began, the focus was on the issues of solid waste management particularly on areas of weak behavioral interventions which are often manifested in littering and illegal dumping. The scope of our work has gradually expanded to include issues such as gaps in public sanitation regulatory frameworks, inadequate investment in waste management infrastructure for both solid and liquid waste, improper management of commissioned dumpsites, the role of the private sector in solutions building, issues of extended producer responsibility and sanitation rights particularly for the urban poor. In the last five years we have conducted several advocacy campaigns on the above issues which has reached millions of persons and inspired many positive actions across the country.
