About us

Eco Buddha started its activities under the name of 'Korean Buddhist Social Education Center' in March 1988, and in 1994, it was approved as a 'Korean Buddhist Environmental Education Center' by the Ministry of Environment. We are working under the new name of ‘Buddha’. Since the early 1990s, environmental issues have been raised in Korean society, and based on the fundamental teachings of Buddhism centered on the ideology of respect for life, we have focused on establishing and socializing a new environmental ethics.
In order to solve modern environmental problems, we need to fundamentally change our lives through changes in our values and lifestyle. Education and experience programs (ecology school, life movement academy, ecotourism, etc.) In addition, we have been conducting projects such as networking between environmental groups and academic publications. In addition, various activities have been carried out so that this can lead to a change in the lifestyle of citizens.
In particular, since 1999, we have been building an alternative society through the ‘Zero Garbage Movement’, which focuses on the issue of waste, a symbol of abundance and consumption. The ‘Zero Garbage Movement’ is a movement to practice eco-friendly life directly in daily life. Since garbage becomes a mirror that allows one to reflect on one's life, the objective of the Zero Waste Movement is to reflect on a consumerist lifestyle and to seek and practice an eco-friendly lifestyle in an effort to zero waste. To this end, we are constantly developing and spreading agendas and practices. As part of this, recently, we are focusing on the empty bowl movement and the food waste composting business using earthworms.
