About us
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in the Republic of Moldova on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and other German Government ministries since 1994. Since 2014, the company’s country office has been based in the capital, Chisinau. GIZ is assisting Moldova with developing its economic and democratic structures. Priority is given to the following areas: - Sustainable economic development - Good governance Another priority area of work is the improvement of performance in the area of governance. GIZ is collaborating in this context with Moldovan partners such as municipal and district authorities in order to connect residents in rural regions to water supply and sanitation services, introduce a waste disposal system and carry out energy-efficient renovation work on public buildings. German development cooperation activities in Moldova are co-financed by donors such as the EU, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Romanian Government.
