The International Association of Lions Clubs, more commonly known as Lions Clubs International, is an international non-political service organization established originally in 1916 in Chicago, Illinois, by Melvin Jones. It is now headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois. As of January 2020, it had over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members (including the youth wing Leo) in more than 200 countries and geographic areas around the world Project examples include but are not limited to: Projects that support long-term disaster reconstruction of important public and community facilities damaged or destroyed by natural disasters after all other LCIF funding has been fully expended (such as major catastrophe grants and designated disaster grants). Lions Club programs include youth outreach, international relations, environmental issues, and many other programs. The LIONS acronym also stands for Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nations' Safety. The Environment The Earth sustains human life. That’s why LCIF is dedicated to helping Lions take on large-scale projects that will create a sustainable and healthy future for generations to come.
