Pass NetZero: Climate Action Through Aquatic Innovation
Pass NetZero is a non-profit association established under French law dedicated to developing innovative climate solutions centered on aquatic ecosystems. Our organization stands at the critical intersection of climate action, wetland preservation, and educational advancement.
Our Climate Mission
We focus on developing cost-efficient carbon capture methods utilizing aquatic plants as natural carbon sinks. By researching species such as giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera), common reed (Phragmites australis), and sea lettuce (Ulva rigida), we're creating tangible solutions to reduce atmospheric CO₂ levels and mitigate climate change impacts. Our approach transforms these plants into valuable products like bio-bricks, bioplastics, and animal feed, creating sustainable value chains while permanently storing carbon.
Wetland Conservation
Pass NetZero recognizes wetlands as irreplaceable carbon repositories and biodiversity hotspots. Our research on phytoremediation capabilities of various aquatic plants simultaneously addresses water pollution while enhancing the ecological integrity of these vital ecosystems. Through our work, we're demonstrating the critical role wetlands play in climate regulation, water filtration, and ecological resilience, while developing tools to strengthen their protection and restoration.
Educational Impact
Education forms the foundation of our approach. We actively fund research collaborations with academic institutions like the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), supporting graduate students in Southern African regions. This creates essential knowledge transfer pathways that empower local communities with sustainable solutions while building scientific capacity in climate-vulnerable regions. Our comprehensive aquatic plant atlas and published research ensure this knowledge reaches both academic and community audiences.
By implementing our four-phase approach—from knowledge acquisition to scaled implementation—Pass NetZero is working toward a 2030 vision of global partnerships that advance Sustainable Development Goals while addressing the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.
