About us

United Nations Tajikistan represents the collaborative efforts of the UN system to support sustainable development, peace, and human rights in the Republic of Tajikistan. Established shortly after Tajikistan gained independence in 1991, the UN began operations during a period of internal conflict and has since played a vital role in facilitating peacebuilding, development, and humanitarian support. The UN presence in the country has grown into a broad network of specialized agencies, funds, and programs working in partnership with the Tajik government, civil society, and international donors.

One of the primary focuses of the United Nations in Tajikistan is poverty reduction and socio-economic development.
