About us
Arbio is a Peruvian non-profit association founded in Tambopata, Madre de Dios. Since 2010 Arbio protects 916 hectares of Amazon rainforest (2264 acres) in the watershed of the Las Piedras river, Madre de Dios. The organization is led by women and its purpose is to articulate efforts with civil society, the private sector, and academia in order for the forest to remain standing long-term. Arbio is focused in carrying out investigations on biodiversity and the processes that sustain the rainforest, with an emphasis on great Amazon trees, to strengthen their future protection.
