The Resource Environmental Center Albania (REC Albania)

About us

The Resource Environmental Center Albania (REC Albania) is an Albanian legal entity registered under the Law on Non-profit Organisations (2001). The REC Albania works to fulfill the organization's mission by supporting NGOs and environmental institutions and stakeholders at a national, regional and local level. It also promotes participatory processes and exchange of information.
The REC Albania is an active non-governmental organization born out of a desire to inspire and call to action on Sustainable Development of the Albanian society. 
The Resource Environmental Center Albania as a successor of the Regional Environmental Center has several running programs focusing on:
•	Local initiatives and environmental investments
•	Environmental planning and management, and national, regional and rural development;
•	Environmental education and information;
•	Environmental legislation and the legislative framework;
•	Capacity development and technical assistance;
•	Public participation in environmental matters;
•	Civil society support and assistance;
REC Albania promotes cooperation among different stakeholder groups, provides professional advice to decision-makers; disseminates knowledge on Education for Sustainable Development policy and tools; develops innovative multimedia tool-kits in both online and printed formats for classroom use; builds the capacities of local, national and sub-national stakeholders; and facilitates public participation in policy making.
Mission: The REC Albania mission is to contribute to transparency, sustainability and European integration, implementing projects that build resilience to climate change, promote clean energy solutions, champion sustainable mobility and strengthen environmental governance in Albania and beyond. 
Activities: Activities of the REC Albania combine capacity building and facilitation with applied research and innovation. The REC Albania is a key specialist organization in the country in developing, implementing and promoting policy and tools for sustainable development, in enabling stakeholder development and partnerships, in the sustainable management and use of natural resources, in the integration of environmental concerns into sectoral policies, and in the drafting, negotiation and implementation of international agreements. 
The REC Albania contributes directly to the 2013 UNESCO Global Action Plan on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and the UNECE Strategy on ESD and facilitates the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals by building capacity in relation to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
