About us

SOH Conservación is a Dominican non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the protection of biodiversity, ecosystems, and threatened species across the island of Hispaniola. The organization focuses particularly on the strategic landscapes of the southwestern Dominican Republic, including the Sierra de Bahoruco, Lago Enriquillo, and Jaragua regions—areas of exceptional ecological value and high levels of endemism.
Through its work, SOH Conservación promotes a comprehensive conservation approach that integrates scientific research, habitat protection, land acquisition for private reserves, ecosystem restoration, and community engagement. The organization collaborates closely with local communities, government institutions, and international conservation partners to develop sustainable solutions that balance biodiversity protection with local livelihoods.
In recent years, SOH Conservación has played a key role in establishing and managing private conservation areas, supporting the protection of critical habitats for endangered and endemic species, and advancing innovative conservation initiatives such as sustainable agroforestry systems and landscape-scale conservation planning.
