About us

Forest Nusantara is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring Indonesia’s vital rainforest ecosystems while fostering sustainable livelihoods for local and Indigenous communities. We work at the intersection of conservation, climate action, and social equity to safeguard biodiversity hotspots and promote regenerative land-use practices.

Mission:
To halt deforestation, advocate for land rights, and create scalable models of community-led forest stewardship that benefit both people and the planet.

Core Focus Areas:
1.	Forest Protection & Restoration
  o	Combat illegal logging and land degradation through patrols and advocacy.
  o	Reforest degraded lands with native species (e.g., mangroves, dipterocarps).
  o	Establish community-managed protected areas.

2.	Indigenous & Local Community Empowerment
  o	Secure land tenure rights for Indigenous peoples.
  o	Train communities in sustainable agroforestry and non-timber forest product (NTFP) harvesting.
  o	Support eco-enterprises (e.g., rattan, wild honey, eco-tourism).

3.	Climate Resilience
  o	Develop REDD+ and carbon offset projects with fair benefit-sharing.
  o	Promote fire-prevention strategies and peatland restoration.

4.	Policy & Advocacy
  o	Campaign against destructive palm oil/mining concessions.
  o	Partner with government agencies to strengthen conservation laws.
  o	Raise public awareness through education programs.
